A shank occurs when the ball hits the hosel of the club instead of the clubface. To use the Swing Box to improve your swing and avoid shanking, place the Swing Box in front of you, then adjust the foam ball to be 2-3 inches away from the golf ball. Set up as if hitting the foam ball, but aim to hit the inside ball instead. This simple two-ball drill is designed to help golfers who tend to move their arms away from their body on the downswing, leading to shanked shots, fat shots, and excessive arm movement.
The Swing Box is an effective tool for improving your angle of approach and reducing excessive body movement during chipping. Place the Swing Box on the trail leg side of your stance, with the foam ball positioned 10 inches away from the golf ball. Practice hitting the inside ball without touching the foam ball on either the backswing or downswing. This drill is particularly useful for golfers who struggle with hitting down on the ball and trying to lift it up.
